Going Forward With Writing

Hi Shai,

I am very keen in venturing into writing discipline. Would like to know the best thing to do going forward with this.

Looking forward to hearing from you,
Hasne

Hello, Hasne.

I think you hit the nail right on the head when you wrote the word ‘forward’ twice and the word ‘discipline’ once in your note.

When it comes to writing, you really just have to get on with it. As in, start writing! Don’t even bother reading rule books or websites/weblogs like mine, unless it helps you to shut the books and go offline to start writing. If reading and researching about writing simply gives you an excuse not to write - then it’s not doing you and your writing any favour.

So, yes, just go forward and write. Then, keep on writing. Everyday. It doesn’t matter if it’s just a few words, a handful of phrases, a couple of sentences, or bits and pieces of paragraphs. Just write.

As you keep on writing, you will learn exactly where you want to take your writing to

… if you prefer fiction, nonfiction or poetry…

… if you want to write as a hobby or professionally…

… or, if you even want to write at all.

All the best,

Shai
