To celebrate my return to a “proper” writing life and the resurrection of eWriteLife, I’m giving away ONE (1) hard bound copy of “Will Write for Shoes: How to Write a Chick Lit Novel “ by Cathy Yardley. Cathy herself actually donated some copies of her book for my different blogs/sites and projects. And, I decided to use one of these books right here, right now.

So, what do you need to do to win? There are THREE ways (and yes, you can enter thrice!):
1. Leave a comment in this post answering the question, “Why do you like to write?”.
2. Blog about eWriteLife and/or this contest in your own blogs.
3. Tweet/Post to Facebook (or other social network) this contest and/or eWriteLife.
Each comment will be considered to be one entry for the giveaway. A blog entry will be another entry. And, a social network post will be another entry. Each individual may have 1 entry for each (a total of 3).
Contest ends on 2nd of November 2009 (Adelaide, Australia Time). Winners will be drawn randomly and announced on this blog shortly after. The winner should be prepared to provide complete mailing address.

How cool! I love reading chick lit (although not as much as I did when I was happily single as opposed to happily married), but I’ve always been intimidated by the writing of it. Chick-lit is such an underrated genre, but I think it’s one that will stand the test of time.
Cheers,
Marjorie
p.s. Oh, I love to write because…because….because it’s the one thing I’m extremely good at. Or so people tell me. Anyway, it feeds this creative soul.

Marjorie: I so agree with you on chick-lit being underrated. But then, I just don’t like such ‘literary snobbery’ anyway. If people think it’s worth reading, then it’s worth writing. And publishing, for that matter. Just my 2 cents.

Oh Shai I left a comment, but it seems to have gone? Maybe it got spammed?
I was saying something about how much I love to write, how it helps me to find my voice so that I can help others to find their voice too. I love to write because words, like painting and photography, can express things so uniquely, they can connect us to one another, and it’s because of this that the more I write, the more I want to write! (sounded much better the first time I’m sure!)
Great new blog Shai, I didn’t realise how much you love to write too!

Hi, Jasmin! So sorry to hear about the lost comment. I didn’t see it at all.
Anyway, good that this one came through! Thanks for sharing about your connection with writing.
And yes, I’ve loved writing for as long as I can remember. In fact, eWriteLife is actually my first website. I just sort of neglected it over the years. Now, I’m trying to revive it. The same way I’m trying to revive my “real writing” life.
All the best to you, as always!

I love to write because I love reading a well written piece. Whenever I do, I wish I could write as well.
Blogged about the contest here. And will tweet it @docemdy.

Hi, Em Dy. Being a good reader often helps you to become a good writer. I wish you the best with it! And thanks for blogging, Tweeting, and commenting.

He he, wouldn’t mind winning this so I could read it. I’ve actually started planning a chick lit (or is it hen lit) novel, believe it or not.

That’s good to know, Heather. Do tell me more! And, well… based on some of the romance/chick lit writing books I’ve read (including this one!), they sort of differentiate chick lit with hen lit… I think hen lit’s meant to be about women with kids/married women and such. Hmmm… I need to review that!
Good luck with your novel! Keep me posted.

I would love to win this!
For me it’s more than liking to write, I need to write. I don’t know how to NOT write, so I guess my answer is that I like to write because it’s what keeps me from going (more) insane.
Will also tweet from my @sherina account!

Hi, Sherry! Thanks for entering. And, I wish you well with your writing too!

I like to write because I want to communicate creatively. I want to take the things I’ve heard, seen and lived through, spin them into tales and set them loose.

Hi, Christie. That’s definitely a great reason to write. Good luck!

Hi…randomly stumbled across this blog and figured I should respond. I don’t just like writing- I adore it. You know that feeling when something intense happens, or emotions have just been building up inside of you for so long that you feel as if you don’t get a pen and paper or your fingers to the keyboard you will simply expand until your body can’t take it anymore and it eventually explodes? That is why I write. To stop myself from exploding.
